A 15-year-old boy was, on Monday, charged for alleged rape before an Abuja Upper Area Court at Karu.
The Police prosecutor, Mohammed Garuba, told the court that one Eni Ola of Durumi 2, Garki, Abuja, reported the matter to the police on July 11.
Mr. Garuba said the suspect took advantage of Ola’s daughter- a three -year-old girl- deceived her, and had carnal knowledge of her.
He said the accused used force on the girl “because she was a minor.”
According to the prosecutor, the offence of rape contravened section 285 of the penal code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding Judge, Umar Kagarko, considering the fact that the accused was an underage, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must be reasonable and reliable and adjourned the case to September 19, for hearing.
